  • Joining forces to bring good AI ideas to life – with the support of the Civic Innovation Platform!

AI is what we make it!

Good ideas, technical expertise and a variety of perspectives paired with a shared commitment to solving the practical challenges that face our society – all that needs to come together to ensure that artificial intelligence is ‘our AI’. And that’s precisely the aim we pursue with the Civic Innovation Platform (CIP), which is why we help interdisciplinary teams develop and implement AI providing benefits for the common good. We cover the entire innovation process with two funding opportunities: the idea contest and project funding.

How we support you

  • From idea to concept

With the idea contest, we’re getting started at a very early stage of the innovation process and supporting development of viable concepts on the basis of promising ideas for AI providing benefits for the common good. To ensure success, we provide financial support in the form of prize money of up to €20,000 as well as support in the form of networking, advisory and workshop services.

  • Turning ideas into reality

In order to turn good ideas into reality, we support project groups within the framework of our ‘Civic Innovation’ funding guidelines in the form of grants that help them to develop and implement AI applications for the common good with a bearing on labour and social policy.

    To project funding

CIP is part of Civic Coding

True to the CIP motto ‘AI is what we make it’, CIP is an integral component of ‘Civic Coding – Innovation Network for AI for the Common Good’, a joint initiative of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS), the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV). Here, the three Ministries are joining forces, linking infrastructures, connecting communities and opening up their projects for shared use.

In the Civic Coding community, you as registered users can discover project ideas for AI providing benefits for the common good, connect with like-minded people and develop your ideas together.
