Improve the world with AI ideas at re:publica

How can AI get out of the technology niche and into the middle of society, becoming usable for as many people as possible in terms of the environment, health, work, mobility or any other areas? At our ‘Speed Date your AIdea! – improve the world with your idea’ workshop at re:publica 2022, random groups of participants gathered and developed their ideas for AI providing benefits for the common good together.

The teams discussed and developed their ideas using questions such as ‘Which everyday problem do I want to solve?’ and ‘Which particular aspects or target groups should I take into account here?’. The results speak for themselves: from an app that provides personalised tips for a more sustainable lifestyle, through a ‘Science AI’ that independently breaks down complex research and summarises it in an easy-to-understand way, a digital therapy assistant, to a mediation app for more educational justice, a wide variety of examples illustrate how we could use AI for the common good.

The workshop was in conjunction with the activities of the Civic Innovation Platform – these ideas and, of course, all the ones that were developed beyond the workshop can be submitted to the third round of the ‘AI is what we make it!’ idea contest, which is expected to take place from autumn 2022.
