There are all kinds of funding available in Germany. With this field being so complex, it is not always easy for someone to navigate their way around it. 'AlatUno' is designed as a funding tool for everyone, offering applicants an intuitive and multilingual online experience. Together with a project manager and the company LangTec GmbH, the non-profit company Entwicklungswerk wishes to make application processes easier and also take the strain off the authorities.

Why are you a strong team?
The AlatUno team has deep expertise in all relevant aspects needed to develop and realise the project idea: AI, linguistics, software engineering and application processes. We already have contacts and a broad network of public institutions.
We are an experienced team:
- Daniel Iglesias: 18 years in IT projects (8 in grant applications)
- Dr Patrick McCrae: 20 years in IT projects (15 in AI)
- Jochen Bloss: 20 years’ experience and network in start-up mentoring (10 years in education & youth welfare)
Explain your idea in three sentences.
We turn classic forms into a convenient, multilingual, online experience visible anywhere where the audiences are digitally present. The final result is always a fully and correctly filled-in and signed application form in the German language. For funding providers and administrators, processes can remain just as they are. What’s more, the input documents filled in using AI optimisation make these processes error-free, saving on costs.
What makes your idea special?
AlatUno brings high-end industrial experience to a social context and public funding grants, both of which are fields of use where this expertise is often not found.
Accordingly, we remove barriers to filling in any application form and ensure that government instruments and initiatives are well known, efficient and effective. The approach can be scaled up across regions, funding instruments and languages. AlatUno does not just solve one problem. It solves many.
What are the next steps?
Our next milestones are:
- developing functional and non-functional specifications for the proof of concept (PoC)
- operationalising the use cases
- planning the implementation applying for further funding, and
- performing first practical tests at a large non-profit organisation.
