Visit the Open Innovation Lab living lab in Berlin

The Policy Lab Digital, Work & Society at the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) has been supporting the research project ‘Open Innovation Lab for the Realization of Common Good AI Applications’ since October 2022. As part of the project, the Open Innovation Lab was established at the Center for Tangible Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization (ZEKI) at Ernst-Reuter-Platz in the direct vicinity of the TU Berlin, to serve as a space for demonstrations, get-togethers and events.

It offers theoretical and practical support right there on-site, from specialist presentations, workshops and a self-learning course (coming soon) to the provision of aids for the development process and the use of AI that provides benefits for the common good. The Open Innovation Lab is a place where you can actually experience AI, engage with like-minded people and jointly work on ideas and projects. The innovation lab is open to everyone, from AI ideas people, initiators and municipalities to administrative, research and educational institutions, associations, clubs and companies (in particular SMEs and start-ups) as well as interested citizens.

Having been established in the heart of the city at Ernst-Reuter-Platz and not least due to its active use and collaboration, the OpenInnovation Lab is playing a part in AI expertise being highly practically brought into the mainstream of society.

Who runs the Open Innovation Lab?

The ‘Open Innovation Lab for the Realization of Common Good AI Applications’ is a project of the German-Turkish Advanced Research Centre for Information and Communication Technologies (GT ARC), an institute of the TU Berlin, which engages closely with the Distributed Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (DAI-Lab) and the Agent Technologies in Business Applications and Telecommunications chair at the TU Berlin.
