AI teaching platform - Civic Innovation Platform

AI teaching platform

AI permeates almost all areas of life – and teaching in schools is no exception. This idea, submitted by KI macht Schule and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, is aimed at teachers. A teaching platform for AI education is intended to make it easier for teachers to access materials and thus contribute to the high-quality teaching of AI knowledge. This helps teachers to deliver good lessons and enables students to acquire essential AI skills and learn how to use the latest AI tools.

What makes you a strong team?

Our team has the perfect mix of expertise to develop a teaching platform for artificial intelligence (AI): AI scientists who are very familiar with the latest interdisciplinary developments and help shape them through cutting-edge research (publications in leading journals such as Nature), as well as dedicated teachers who know our target group inside out and have experience in how knowledge can be prepared and passed on in a way that is suitable for students.

Explain your idea in three sentences.

We are developing a teaching platform where teachers can find teaching and learning materials on the subject of AI for their own lessons. The materials are created by AI experts and are continuously updated against the backdrop of rapid scientific and technical progress. The materials are designed to be highly interactive and motivational in line with the latest didactic insights and can be used in a variety of school subjects.

What makes your idea special?

On the one hand, we want to reach teachers of all subjects that are primarily assigned to the STEM field, but the topic is also becoming increasingly important for all social actors. On the other hand, with our digital material, including interactive didactic software for AI teaching, we offer teachers low-threshold access so that they can quickly and easily integrate AI topics into their own subject teaching.

What’s next?

The teaching materials that our team has developed since 2019 and tested with more than 2,000 students to date are now being prepared with extensive accompanying materials so that teachers can use them in their own subject teaching. In order to be able to operate independently of the technical equipment of the schools, we are developing a teaching platform on which the interactive exercises can be completed directly
