Constructive access to AI in education

The aim of MindverseBielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSBI) and the Evangelisch Stiftisches Gymnasium in Gütersloh is constructive access to, and the thoughtful use of, the latest AI tools. In particular, the idea is about providing students and teachers with a protected technical environment in which they can gain their own experience with AI-based text generators based on modern LLMs (large language models) in the classroom and use these tools in a more targeted manner according to their needs and the specialist requirements of the education system.

What makes you a strong team?

We represent the link between school, research and business in our team comprising Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, the Evangelisch Stiftisches Gymnasium Gütersloh and Mindverse. Our strength lies in open communication within the team, which we have built up and which enables us to continuously learn as individuals and as a whole team. We as a team – teachers, Mindverse employees and the entire teaching body of ESG Gütersloh – are united by an interest in artificial intelligence with the aim of improving education.

Explain your idea in three sentences.

Our idea is that working with artificial intelligence improves students’ ability to learn. As a company, this seamlessly follows on from our vision of enabling everyone to produce high-quality copy, which is why we have developed Mindverse as a comprehensive AI-based tool. Together with Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and ESG Gütersloh, we are testing the limits of artificial intelligence in practical education and constantly trying to push back the boundaries.

What makes your idea special?

Mindverse is a suite that enables networked working, from research and interactive brainstorming to writing and editing. This guarantees a creative flow, without writer’s block. We can easily harness these strengths from our business area and, with the scientific support of the team at Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, adapt them to the needs of the teaching staff of ESG Gütersloh. This facilitates a constructive approach to, and handling of, artificial intelligence.

What’s next?

We are currently actively working on even better integration of the various features and tools that AI makes possible and that we have already developed for Mindverse, such as AI charts, Mindverse apps and Mindverse Chat. We are also developing useful features for teachers in consultation with ESG Gütersloh.
